Asiana of Korea intends to increase fuel surcharge
South Korea's two major airlines Korean Air and Asiana Airlines said the two companies may have in January 2010 to adjust fuel surcharges on international routes to reflect the aviation fuel prices.
Korean Air and Asiana Airlines domestic rivals is likely to fly to Europe and the United States one-way fuel surcharge on long-haul flights from 32 U.S. dollars raised to 41 U.S. dollars. The two companies said that from October 1 to November 25, Singapore spot market average price of aviation fuel hovering around 1.95 U.S. dollars / gallon or so. If the average price of aviation fuel rose to more than 1.50 U.S. dollars / gallon, airlines can impose fuel surcharges on international flights.
